About this deal

From the author of White Noise (winner of the National Book Award) and The Silence , an eerily convincing fictional speculation on the events leading up to the assassination of John F. Although they are similar men who were all persecuted for their involvement at Pigs Bay, they are each completely different from one another, as they are complex and multifaceted. Unlike typical thrillers where characters are mere caricatures blindly running after power/money ***, DeLillo's characters are quite real. Branch has decided it is premature to make a serious effort to turn these notes into coherent history. DeLillo ha sabido establecer personajes tan complejos y tan bien desplegados que hasta asustan de su tridimensionalidad.

Some still believe that these classified documents hold the key to the assassination, and there is no doubt that when they are released there will be swathes of people rushing in to look them over, as in the 1990s following the JFK Act (the one positive achieved by Stone's motion picture). Plot so subtle yet unshakeable that it's to nobody's surprise the Framed feels this was how it was meant to be. Changes do occur in men’s and women’s roles, reflected in part by who gets a literal chair to sit on at meals, while world crises—a war, Sweden’s financial troubles—have unexpected impact.

It is amazing how she suddenly has a cigarette in her hand, which I never witnessed when Lee was alive.

He knew what Trotsky had written, that revolution leads us out of the dark night of the isolated self. This quote echoes a sentiment in DeLillo's 1985 novel White Noise: "All plots tend to move deathward. I found the opening chapter, written in short, blunt sentences that soon grated on me, rather poor, but luckily it began to pick up soon after, and gradually the novel grew in stature, till it reached a peak towards the end when we get to the assassination scene, which I thought was really good. I had to stare the god damned conspiracy in its jowles, I had to rummage in its belly and pick over what it ate last night, ugh, all its grimy details, its filthy postulates and its mind-damaging Agatha-Christie's-Murder-on-the-Orient-Express conclusion that - gasp, look away now - they ALL did it! I am holding off the fifth star only because political thrillers and conspiracy theories don't hold much interest for me.

I should also mention that I was raised by a father who was 14 years old on that fateful day in Dallas, and I inherited his lifelong curiosity about what really happened. As Branch hints, there is more to the case than meets the eye, but the government is quick to say Oswald is working alone. Oliver Stone in the years following JFK had been a quite staunch conspiracy theorist - on one occasion forcing the late JFK Jr. S. government who were unhappy that President Kennedy, after the failure of the Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961, refused to consider war with communist Cuba. Newman found that the Agency had deliberately withheld information on Oswald from the FBI and Secret Service, even going as far as to move it into different files so that others within their organisation would not stumble upon and disseminate it.In the second timeline, a CIA archivist struggles to uncover what really happened in Dallas that fateful day.

The author of thirteen novels, five plays, and numerous short stories, Don DeLillo was born in 1936.Cuando estás convencido de que has visto todas las formas en que la violencia puede sorprenderte, aparece algo nuevo que ni siquiera habías imaginado. Although I knew Oswald would get to the point of going to the Soviet Union and working in Dallas, I was satisfied by the relationship he had with his mother and with the streets of New York, then New Orleans. For him, men like Lenin and Trotsky “lived in isolation for long periods, lived close to death through long winters in exile or prison, feeling history in the room, waiting for the moment when it would surge through the walls, taking them with it.
