Coleridge did not, as far as I know, see the Alhambra, this amazing city on top of a cliff above the rivers in lovely Granada. Erotic chapels, a subterranean route of the river which crosses the center of the city, a secret library. Even before visiting this court and the rest of the palace, this was the sentence that had made me want to go and see it for myself.Fascinating description of influential philosophical writing about science and art that would have influenced the building and decoration. It explains in an entertaining way the history of the Alhambra and the Generalife, as well as many other curiosities.
