About this deal

Suttons strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. We reserve the right to contact you and advise an additional charge where necessary and are happy to quote for carriage of specific products to more remote areas. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into 7cm (3") pots and grow them on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outdoors.

Gently tuck your seeds into the soil, making sure they’re cozied up at around 20°C to encourage speedy sprouting. Sow cosmos seed from February to May at a depth of 3mm (1/8in) in a good quality seed compost, and cover the seeds with a very fine sprinkling of vermiculite. We hold a reputation for introducing more plant varieties to the British gardening public than any other seed company. Deadhead the flowers regularly and don’t be afraid to cut back because the plants will reward you with a ton of new growth.

I'm extremely disappointed because while the seeds had a fabulous germination rate- now they've bloomed the colour is 'Gloria' and not Apricot Lemonade as stated. When you are selecting the right spot, keep in mind that this cosmos easily becomes 100 centimeters tall! The unique color reminds us of ‘Distant Drums’ roses - watercolored petals start out a soft apricot with a dusty lavender reverse and fade to a buttery yellow. Noted for its unique color, Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Apricot Lemonade’ is an upright, bushy annual boasting single, pale apricot flowers, 3-4 in. Stake and tie if necessary during the growing season, water regularly and dead-head to prolong the flowering season. Every garden should have some Cosmos bipinnatus - so easy to grow, colourful and with a very long flowering season. But here’s a pro tip to avoid leggy plants: once those seeds have successfully sprouted, give them a slightly cooler environment.

So many of these fashionable shorter Cosmos can be disappointing but not this one, after years of trials, this one is my favourite! So, whether you’re a flower enthusiast or a gardening novice, Apricotta’s vibrant and inviting hues will make it a cherished addition to your garden. The newest (and to me the loveliest) of the new breedings of cosmos trialled in the garden here – soft, ethereal and quiet. Cosmos is a pollinator's favorite, and often we see bees and beneficial insects settle on the golden pollen centers, taking their nourishment as the flowers wave in the summer breezes. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Gradually harden off before planting out in May 30-45cm (12-18") apart once all risk of frost has passed. Prepare to be amazed by the vibrant beauty of Apricot Lemonade cosmos, one of our popular cut flowers.

Individual blooms don’t last long in the vase, about 4-6 days, but each stem is loaded with multiple blossoms that open over a period of a week. Even the best pictures don't really do justice to the incredible tones of this cosmos - like a summer sunset, almost seem to glow.
