About this deal

The clean vocals, brutal growls, screeches, and the occasional pig squeal to top it off are all meticulously executed. A certain edge that wasn’t there before has now become the raving pink elephant in the room, packed with never-ending energy and breaking every boundary.

What was once a band buttressed solely by the dim star of 2010s electro-metalcore is now a significant force, and as is probably expected, the timeline of how we got to this point isn’t the clearest. The band was nominated for the Up And Coming (best newcomer award) at the German Metal Hammer Awards, held in Berlin on 13 September 2013, which they won. Their earlier work can easily be compared to that of Asking Alexandria and Motionless In White – undisputable metalcore with electronic enhancements and some absurd lyrics alongside the more poignant. The band changed the word 'Eskimo' to 'Electric' because it can be seen as a derogatory name for the Inuit and Yupik people in Alaska.

According to Hysteria Mag, "Fckboi" leans into a pop punk sound, while utilizing alternative rock and trap elements. It’s a rarity, definitely, and one which it’s not even clear if they’ll be able to pull off again given their past record, but the results speak for themselves, at the end of the day. On 22 December 2021, the band announced through Instagram that they were removing old songs from all platforms due to offensive lyrics and that they were reconsidering the band's name. Seriously, I spent no less than 5 days listening to this on repeat after it came out and I’m still not sick of it yet.

You don’t get lines like “Shaky, shaky, sweaty, sweaty / You make my spaghetti ready” from Tekkno Train by any band under the illusion of playing it straight. Clearly Nico has had a very positive influence on the band and I can see them going from strength to strength in years to come. Vocal-wise, think of Michael Bolton meets Chester Bennington (around the ‘ BURN IT DOWN‘ / LIVING THINGS album era of Linkin Park), with hard rock/EDMcore vibes and synth-a-plenty, this doesn’t have the same energy as the pit friendly tracks we’ve mentioned throughout, but it serves as the perfect closer and interlude into whatever this band of misfits do next.We Are the Mess peaked in 8th place on Germany's official long-play charts and in 64th place in Austria. Having not heard this one before, I wasn’t sure how to take it after the first few spins, but it essentially fits as an album filler to drive between the bangers and breakdowns. Tekkno has been described as metalcore, [13] pop, [13] electro, [13] alternative rock, [13] electronica, [13] synth-pop, [16] and pop metal. In August 2013 the band made an appearance at Wacken Open Air, [8] as well as on the Geki Rock Tour in Japan. A marriage of pop, metal, melodic punk and dance, everything they do is performed with maxed-out energy and (an admittedly knowing) sense of the ridiculous.
