About this deal

Sometimes she can be a bit embarrassing but most of the time she's REALLY fun, especially when she gets Jeanie involved in her mischievous schemes. Whether it’s the bossy new park warden or an aggressively boring tour guide, Bad Nana demonstrates to Jeanie and young readers that a little bit of naughty is no harm at all; that bullies can and should be stopped; and, without overtly saying it, that the elderly have much wisdom and fun to offer us all. but then it made some things like a whole page devoted to the contents of her hand bag pretty uninteresting as it wasn't exactly like she had a devil's totem or a pet spider or anything in there! This first book of the series really feels like an appetiser, as the close relationship between Jeanie and her nana is only explored to a small extent, and there is a very enjoyable feeling that Bad Nana is holding some mayhem back for future episodes.

She may or may not have been responsible for making fart noises when the park-keeper bent over to pick up a sweet wrapper that one time, and she’s been banned from the line-dancing club. This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally).Bad Nana is quite unlike Jeanie’s other two grandmas: she dresses entirely in black, with an occasional sparkly pink turban that makes her look like an alien overlord. You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot! This book is absolutely perfect for able young readers (6-8 years) looking for their first step into longer chapter books. But to justify how Jeanie didn't like her younger brother just a little bit was not my favorite part because Jeanie experienced bullies from Georgina and the museum guy, she should know how it feels to be disliked. Bad Nana is such a wonderfully cheeky story and I can imagine a five to eight year old (or twenty-three year old) enjoying this as well. It is at this grandma’s house that Jeanie likes to spend lots of her time, and it would be even better if annoying Jack didn’t have to spend lots of his time there too. Bad Nana has been banned from the line-dancing club for “being disruptive in the freestyle section”, has a cat with PINK hair and carries a walking stick that’s used for everything BUT walking. We meet her three best friends (although, Marcy is sometimes THE best friend) and her annoying younger brother, Jack. However, Bad Nana doesn't seem to have the same 'limit switch' most adults have, and this leads to all sorts of outrageous behaviour and adventures for Bad Nana and Jeanie. The lovely two-colour artwork is filled with original and fun details, and the text has plenty of wry observations for parents to enjoy that children may overlook. her first book, was nominated for both the Kate Greenaway Medal and shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize in 2015. Yesterday a parent came over to tell me how impressed she was by the book fair and that you did a fabulous job of selling the books to the children first.
