I have not gotten to any of the other books in the series until now and I want to kick myself for the delay. One of the most interesting television detectives there's ever been and Kitchen has rarely been better. It's always a pleasure when an author finds a good narrator and retains her/him throughout the series. This slow-burn, strangers-to-enemies-to-lovers, contemporary romance is a standalone filled with angst, yearning, and finding peace. Initially I found it hard to concentrate on as the narrative switches between several characters who have little discernible relevance but many of the links soon become clear and I quickly settled in.As she and her team dig deeper into the the suicide victims' pasts, they uncover a dark web of lies and twisted minds. I raised the question with Better World Books and although they could not supply a hardcover version they were extremely generous in making up for the descepency. Frasier does have some medical issues, including a grade 3 out of 6 heart murmur and some liver issues that he is on a special diet for. The She's recently become engaged to DS Mark Boyd (but hasn't told anyone yet) and seems happier and a little less bitchy, but is concerned that Boyd is acting a little distant.
Book 6, although I enjoyed it, did irritate me a bit with the investigation/family overlapping into each other.
Their back and forth banter continually kept me giggling and the underlying sexual innuendos showed how much the two of them desired each other. Of course I was going to LOVE Broken Souls, because I LOVE Lottie Parker and I LOVE Patricia Gibney's writing! Honeysuckle Weeks is charming and loyal, with some nice touches of subtle humour as ever, and Anthony Howell is wonderful. Before I start diving into this review, I´m gonna do something that is unusual for me and give a trigger warning beforehand.
I am now writing the second novel in the series, featuring Lottie Parker and a host of credible characters. Lottie has a very hectic life with not only the with the investigations of the suicides and the disappearance of Lily but, she is trying to juggle her home life with her kids and her half-brother.I really liked Alicia, like mentioned before she has a lot to deal with and she was so brave and strong going through all of it. In addition to the synthesizers, there is violin coursing through many of the pieces, adding to the general melancholy.

This has the effect of allowing us to gain a deeper understanding of their behaviour's and draw our own conclusions, a detailed investigation depicting realities of working with different members of a team.I was a little disappointed in book 6 for there were so many repeats and catch up non readers I almost set it aside. A strong enough murder mystery element that kept me guessing until the end, the family side of these books is just as important as it’s an essential part of showing who Lottie is and why at times she is very short with her work colleagues and a bit bitchy at times(which seems to irritate certain readers and distance her from them). His instincts to help Alicia and protect her come from his heart of gold, even if he is a bit moody about it. The story has been captivating, the writing style is amazing and all the characters have plenty of depth.
