About this deal

If you establish a book as an ideal inspirational story for a graduating senior, you are set for life. Jena: “Trust them because one day they’ll get older and they won’t know how to take care of themselves. A sweet story that helps children see why parents can be so protective, and that we may need to prove to our parents over time that we can be independent. Jeanne has won several awards including the Nestle Smarties prize for Tadpole’s Promise, the Portsmouth Children’s Book Prize for Dumb Creatures and Grandad and John and the Book Trust Early Years award for Bog Baby. A great story about a little mouse named Colin, who compared to his brothers and sisters, was very small indeed.

Cottonball Colin comes to you directly from the loony team of Brits responsible for such books as Misery Moo and the infamous Tadpole's Promise. Jeanne has also worked on scripts for TV, including Polly Pocket and The Slow Norris, and a pilot TV series for Dr Xargle. But when Colin (wrapped in cotton) gets mistaken for a snowball and tossed into a freezing river, everything suddenly seems very dangerous. He has been named as the best-selling illustrator in the UK for three years in a row, and he is the UK’s libraries' most-borrowed illustrator. Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you.

But instead of keeping him safe, the cotton wool attracts the attention of every fierce creature imaginable - little boys, ducks, even foxes! Go through the shelves of your local library and you'll eventually find some didactic tract (nine times out of ten written by a celebrity) that is trying to teach kids this lesson or that lesson with varying degrees of success. But with packaging this nice, and writing this good, Cottonball Colin is the exception that proves the rule. As Colin has adventures throughout the day he loses bits of his cotton here and there but he survives!

She has won several awards, including the Children's Book Award, the Silver Smarties Prize and has also been shortlisted for the Whitbread Award. I think this book would be a more approprete for 3rd and 4th graders due to the concept of the book about the mouse growing up and being able to go out and faceing to the big wide world.

Tony’s books have been shortlisted for the The Laugh Out Loud Book Awards ( Slug Needs a Hug) and the Kate Greenaway ( Dr Xargle's Book of Earth Tiggers), and Tadpole’s Promise won the Silver Medal Smarties Prize. So small that his Mom only agrees to allow him outside into the great big world if she can wrap him in cottonwool. He is perhaps best known for his much-loved Little Princess series, which has been adapted for TV and is currently showing on Channel 5s Milkshake, and for his collaboration on David Walliams’ best-selling children’s books.
