The best way to prevent a dark mage from being dangerous is to drain them through physical intimacy. Spencer ratchets up the tension slowly but surely as things go from bad to worse in this story of a people trying to fend off an invasion by an overwhelming enemy. Especially without stumbling over them, as is easy to do so when creating something of such grinding complexity.

Part of me wonders if this is due to it being a fair bit lengthier and simply allowing herself time to grow and toy with her characters, who are, as in Darkstorm, at the very forefront of her writing. L. Spencer's Darkstorm novel, which was a breath of fresh air from the usual fantasy novels which have a massive threat to the world only for the heroes to resolve it with a laugh and a lark. Roberts toured extensively for the first release of the Avalon series in the Avalon: Music is Magic Tour, a scripted musical event featuring songs, prizes, and author signings. I recommend this book to fantasy fans who enjoy sprawling war stories with epic magic, the challenges of a new master-apprentice experience, and tragic characters with intense emotional struggles. The nations that comprise the Rhen seem to not bother supplying their guardians with anything except criminals, who are all then given rusted weapons to fight with alongside a promise that they won't survive more than a couple of years at best. The spider queen is working with the Dark Mage to take over Avalon to be the ultimate leaders of all magic and absorb every last bit of magic until no one could stop them. As he adjusts to his new life in the strange and foreign isle far from home, Dawyn experiences firsthand the terrifying power of dark magic and its wielders. But for some reason, his very world stubbornly refuses to acknowledge it, while at the same time proving him right at every single turn. The writing style allowed me to get on with the story, and that's what I tend to want with this kind of story.

Said brother opens a portal to the netherworld and unleashes all kinds of hellish creatures on the real world. Rachel Roberts is the author of the Avalon: Web of Magic series that features a magical and adventurous storyline, with positive messages for young people ages 8–12. I also liked the idea of the magic system and the way that magic can be passed down from one mage to another upon their death. There's always someone who gets corrupted and they will join us in completing our prophecy of keeping Avalon to ourselves!

A mage clan torn apart Carina Lin escaped from captivity and freed her brothers and sisters, but she's been recaptured. I was expecting to pick up where we left off last time, and finally get into the core of the problems raised in Darkstorm. This life-changing Audible Original features a powerful mix of one-on-one life-coaching sessions and a personal narrative with vital take-aways that you can start using immediately.

In general, it reminded me somewhat of a slimmed-down Wheel of Time: evil + evil's minions emerging from the beyond, multiple viewpoints as the protagonists struggle against that, different factions with their own preferred ways of dealing with said events. Something that I really liked in particular about this installment, despite the lack of a map, is that this world feels so massive and detailed. This MM Romance features characters in books you can get free if you sign up to the authors newsletter and it was fun seeing those linked characters. Darien Lauchlin has everything: youth, position, a beautiful partner and the promise of becoming Grand Master of Aerysius, the mage’s capital, when he comes into his inheritance.
