won the Young Telegraph/Gimme 5 Award - Malorie is the only author to have won this award twice - while Hacker also won the WH Smith Mind-Boggling Books Award in 1994. An amusing story with a good message about being nice to other people, it had me giggling aloud several times.

There are very few illustrations in this book which I didn't like but a varied range of vocabulary to boost the children's literacy development. I remember reviewing her earlier novel, Robot Girl knowing that Malorie would keep up creating the magic of her storytelling for all, whether it’s sci fi, fantasy, or the modern era. Ellie is horrified at being a cat but grandma tells her that the only way she can be turned back into a human is to find her lost wedding ring. I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books. So with a little bit of magic and some help from Jolly the cat, Grandma’s going to make sure that Ellie changes her ways. Ellie discovers the importance of kindness and friendship and the satisfying ending resolves the family problems that lead to her challenging behaviour. ISBN: 9781781128244 Author: Blackman, Malorie Publisher: Barrington Stoke Publication Date: 15th January 2019 Imprint: Barrington Stoke Cover: Paperback Dewey: 823. It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you. Her work has appeared on screen, with Pig-Heart Boy, which was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal, being adapted into a BAFTA-award-winning TV serial.

I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! Now it’s her grandmother’s turn and Ellie is determined to be as rude and unhappy about the situation as a person can possibly be. Ellie doesn't take to her life as a cat but what she does find is Jolly isn't very well thought of by the other creatures in and around grandma’s house. This short tale was first published in a different format as “Elaine, You’re a Brat” but this new incarnation under publisher Barrington Stoke’s “super readable” label and with their trademark dyslexia-friendly layout and typeface and Matt Robertson’s brilliantly lively and humorous illustrations is fully justified and should prove to be an enjoyable read for children of 8+ who prefer short chapter books.A cautionary tale of brats, cats and a little bit of magic from much loved and best-selling author Malorie Blackman, brought to life in a delightfully fun reading by actor Esme Sears. In a dyslexia-friendly format, this is a magical and gently comic tale of friendship and thinking of others. Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do.

What readers will notice with Malorie's new novel is how she has written from two different perspectives.

Ellie doesn't want to as its just another move she can do without bit her mother insists as her father is going away to another job and she can’t look after her.

Ellie soon realises that a girl trapped in a cat’s body needs some help and that she must learn some manners and make some friends fast. She meets lots of imaginative animal characters (mice and spiders) who teach her how to be good friend towards others.
