The book comes off as bad fan fiction. Bad because the adult versions are not at all the teens we got to know over a dozen and a half novels. It’s also half predicable and half pulled out of the blue. Part of the series was rooted in that “A” was apart of their lives in a major way and when it all unravels, they connect the pieces. But this was not that at all. Part of having a good mystery is that the audience can have a facepalm moment when the antagonist is revealed. But this was not.
