About this deal

I’ve used The Army Painter Wet Palette exclusively for a few weeks now on a couple of in-progress projects. It works great. It keeps my paints wet. I can leave it on my desk for about a week without having to clean it. It’s a decent size. And I’m not joking. This product is phenomenal. Everything that it does for your paint, for your habits as a painter, is for the positive. this is what happens when a company wants to make a product that other companies already make but want to put their own stamp on it. Wondering “how much can we cram into the area of a wet palette”?

Unlike the Previous versions where the Studio Palette was twice the size of the painter, this time the Studio version is only slightly larger. With the Painter area at 6.5″ x 9.44″, the studio is 8″ x 12″ Certainly the most discreetly-functional option, but if you are specifically after a single item which will keep your active paints wet for the longest periods – grab one of the other options – or make your own. 6. AK Interactive Wet PaletteIf you have never used one before, then absolutely this will change the way you paint. The Painter Lite is an excellent gateway to the wet palette world, and it works so smoothly that you may not feel the need to change it up – unless you want to go bigger. But for a beginner, the Painter Lite is a must have. You will feel yourself improving as you use it – thinning your paints couldn’t be made easier, and the potential for mixing, blending and other advanced techniques all lie at your fingertips. Yes, this was also Number 10 on the list, but the topic of “Best” is so subjective. Look, no matter what retail wet palette you buy, you’re essentially just paying for convenience – and there’s nothing wrong with that. I do.

Save paint and time: The best hydration system in the world fine tuned to work perfectly with the best miniature paint brands: Gamesworkshop Citadel paints, Vallejo paints, Scale 75 and others. Feel free to skip to the next section, but I’ve always found the unboxing a necessary part of any review. It shows the care put into a product and good presentation really can lead to a great first impression. Not big issues, but small things that made sure I never loved those DIY solutions. As time goes, I have found that having enough time for my hobby is the biggest concern. Sure, it’s separated and run a little, but that’s likely my fault due to how close to the edge of the palette I decided to place the paint – and the fact it had been sitting in water for over twelve hours. After a little agitation with a brush, it was good to go.Today, we’re going to dive into RGG’s phenomenal Everlasting Wet Palette and make a real splash painting some brand-new Assault Intercessors. Hope you’re all ready to get wet and wild!

Ultimately, it was a bit of a stretch to say anything negatively about the Painter Lite, quite frankly. Mainly this is because it really serves well as a wet palette for beginners and advanced painters alike, but at the end of the day it will always boil down to what your personal needs are in a wet palette. If you need something of bigger size, RedGrass Games do offer the Studio V2 palette, made for larger working areas and those who want a sizeable ballpark to play in.This article is part of our series looking at The Best Hobby Tools for Miniatures and Wargames Models. The clear base will let you see inside. This is a benefit over the Everlasting Wet Palette. As the water naturally starts to evaporate it will cling to the lid. being able to see this before you open the palette is helpful. The first time I opened my Everlasting Wet Palette after a few days in the fridge, I sent water everywhere. including into my paint which caused colour mixes I didn’t want

This should really be considered the “standard” option – like with all The Army Painter Products – this does the job and comes at a fair price. It is clear that Redgrass Games are miles ahead of the competition on the Wet Palette market, but they are not stopping there. They have told me they are working on a new and improved version of the paper. Some tissue (any tissue really) can act as a water-absorbent layer, then all you need is some baking parchment/paper (the none silicone-based stuff) and you have a makeshift wet palette. (you don’t technically need that layer but you’ll soon end up with bits of tissue in your paint). As you might notice, the coating seems to start to wear off in some places because of the additional scrubbing, so I think I’ll replace my membrane after the third cleaning and usage. I find the XL version to be too big for my tastes, but there are probably people where it is very important for that much space. Furthermore, the foam absorbs water very well and will keep your paper consistently moist (there, I said it) as we’ll find out in the testing section of this review.
